Jared Dean, from SAS Institute, published a data mining book for managers and non-specialist practitioners. This nicely written book achieves its goal by providing a broad view of the field. The book has a bias towards SAS, but the good side is that the author shares his personal experience with data mining.
Each topic from predictive analytics to segmentation and time series analysis is covered in a comprehensive manner. The book is thus a compact summary of data mining. It is very close to Analytics in a Big Data World from Bart Baesens. At the end of the book, several case studies are presented. This gives a real added value to the book. Dean has succeeded in spoon-feeding you the work by providing a step by step guide for data analytics. In conclusion, if you don’t already have Bart Baesens’ book, you can go for it.
